Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada
Don’t forget to add the Aviation Museum to your Spring Break itinerary! We’re planning a roster of family-friendly activities every day from March 25 through April 2. Our indoor hangar is 90,000 square feet and chock full of things to see, explore and do. Each day during Spring Break we’ll feature:
Guided tours at 2:00 pm
Our tour guides will take you on a family-friendly tour to show off our aircraft collection ranging from pioneering bush planes to the jet age fighters. You’ll see one-of-a-kind aircraft like our flying boat, our flying saucer and our home-made helicopter. Along the way you’ll board an authentic 1950s passenger plane (photo -op!).
This year we’ll be making a beaver felt pelt. (Suitable for ages 2 to 8). Your craft is yours to take home.
Paper airplane factory and testing grounds
Test your air engineering prowess in our Skyways interactive gallery. (Suitable for ages 8 to 88). We’ve made samples of planes to inspire your invention. You’ll be able to decorate and name your invention… and use our indoor runway to test the aerodynamics and challenge your fellow guests to see whose invention will fly the furthest.
Our dress-up station features authentic uniform artifacts from our collection. Take a selfie and share it on social media with your friends and family. Don’t forget to tag @HistoryoFlight.
Our scavenger hunts are legendary
In our Northern Adventure Scavenger Hunt, players will gain an understanding of just how brave our pioneering pilots were as they trekked off to places where no maps existed. Players need to track fuel, track how much cargo they can carry, and perform daring repairs while aiming to report back to HQ with a full load.
Let’s play “I Spy”
We’ve also created a more independent self-guided scavenger hunt experience to test your powers of observation. Ask for our “I Spy” kit. It’s a menu of photos — small details to be found among our 90,000 sq. ft. hangar — and the challenge is to find them all.
